Skeet is a common Anglo-Manx word, it means the news/gossip/chat. You’d ask someone “what’s the skeet?” to ask what’s new. So it kind of works here, in that sense—but I still hate it because it’s “our” word lol and I don’t want the meaning to change, when the dialect is already so rare/endangered.

If you’re interested, I’ve bought some adorable lightweight covers for N95s on Etsy. They attach with Velcro to the mask straps so that no extra pressure compromises the fit. I don’t use them for every day, like grocery shopping, but they’re cute for special events! I can link you if you want.

I think it needs some time to pick up steam. More and more of my faves from the Bad Place have started showing up here though! I rarely tweeted there, did more reading and replying, but here I’m going to try to post more to encourage more interaction. I was glad to see you here!

Seventh-day Adventists also believe it to be literal fwiw. They work hard to come off as less weird than Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses, which makes them seem less harmful, but their end-times stuff is some of the scariest and most antisemitic evangelical doctrine out there imo
