Shouldn't it be "Documentary?"
It's not a "tired old cliche," imo. It's a statement of our values. That we have rule of law, strive for unity and equality, respect our alliances, and want to be always on the righteous side.

I share your frustration and I have my own thoughts about why that was the result in 2024. But slamming, shaming, acting as if people who are expressing their dismay by saying "this isn't America" are ignoring or are ignorant of prior injustices in our history is just dumb.

I share your frustration and I have my own thoughts about why that was the result in 2024. But slamming, shaming, acting as if people who are expressing their dismay by saying "this isn't America" are ignoring or are ignorant of prior injustices in our history is just dumb.
When someone of good intentions decries bad acts by fellow Americans or our own gov't, saying "this isn't America," it's an aspirational statement. They're not unaware of our historical faults we've been working to perfect for decades. It means "This isn't the America we WANT to be."
