However, I would love if the litter could follow biome tinting. In normal biomes, the brown is okay. But it feels out of place in less green-leafed biomes, such as jungles or custom biomes. I want to use it in more places!

No more pink-tinted leaves in the Sakura biomes. I'm sad to see them go, but the saturation was never right, and biome blending sucked.

One of Whale's suggestions were "spider eggs". I was hesistant... but they work! Wool matches the right color/texture, fits in logically (string), and the pale moss carpet edge-fringe perfects it.
