Assistant Professor, Head of Environmental Policy at UCD; Member of Ireland's Climate Change Advisory Council; Member of the President of Ireland's Council of State
Last night, my fellow Council of State members got to hear one of President Higgins' final speeches. It was particularly emotional taking this photo in front of Irl's first Council of State, noting how times have changed for us ladies in particular!

Yesterday, we welcomed George Marshall to University College Dublin for Earth Institute's public event on how to talk about climate change. Today, George joins my EPA Ireland project team to launch our Community of Practice Using Worldview to Inspire & Scale Climate Action (UWISCA).

Maybe instead of asking about candidate's pets a week before polling day, media could ask candidates their view on existential threats like #climatechange? Just a thought..

Just saw Pete Hegseth's ridiculous speech to US military and, for the first time since my father (USAF Colonel) died 5 years ago, I am relieved he is not alive to see what a mockery is being made of the the cause he dedicated his life too. 😔

Couldn't have picked a nicer day for a field trip with my UCD MSc Environmental Policy students! Thanks to Baron Randal Plunkett for the personal tour of his novel ecosystem & beautiful estate at Dunsany Castle- to inspire our own campus biodiversity efforts back home!

Interesting, my initial analysis of 2020 PfG (along w/ FoE) was that it was weak in agri sector, which tied closely to nature. Last summer, when we assessed progress, we felt they had completed just over half their agri commitments. Again, you can see our overall scoring leaned more into climate.

Dusted off the albums today to look back at these snaps I got of former President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter in Budapest as an 18yr old backpacking through Europe. He was 1st president of my lifetime and ahead of his time on so many issues, including energy conservation & renewable energy. RIP

@ccacireland.bsky.social are at #BTYSTE this year & the atmosphere is electric! I highly recommend popping in between now & Saturday. The intellect & enthusiasm of the students presenting is truely inspiring & provides a much-needed dose of hope in dark times. #climatechange #speirgorm

This lovely calf picked a dreadful week to be born prematurely at my family's farm in Kerry, so they brought her into the back kitchen to stay warm as the county could reach -10°C tonight. The thought of a calf in the kitchen is strangely heart warming to me. #Sneachta #SpeirGorm #StayWarm

Alll the #GE24 lit that came through my door this week seems excessive & unfair to me, rewarding those w/ big budgets over other candidates. Any hope Election Commission will mandate voter's guides like in US counties? It would also elimonate need for posters... @artoleary.bsky.social

It's not intended to be an academic journal article w/ a "methods" section but it doesn't take a genius to see an explanation of the 5 criteria we used to evaluate & a link to the full report we based eval off of at very start. -Unless you don't *want* to see it, and it sounds like you don't.
