Your marketing team can start from a place of meaning, and use that to build engagement by making the case for your vision. Or they can start with engagement, and then see what messaging has meaning for your users. Only one of these is the correct way. #startups

A reminder that having a moderately successful quarter, and then firing enough staff to make your books look amazing, is a M&A strategy, not a "let's have another strong quarter" strategy. #startups

Some of the toxicity in ed tech comes directly from instructor requests; give us the ability to track student behavior, but don't surveil student data. What?

Universities and colleges looking to use technology as a band aid for their problems (too large classes, profs poorly trained in instruction, etc.) not only set themselves for disappointment, but they also miss out on the actual benefits tech can have.

When it occurs, it's a mistake shared by all parties, that students can intuit the many ways a single course fits into the larger framework of their progress in a major, a discipline, a life. Infusing the "why" is well known in andragogy, but is it used often enough in college classes?

Instructors cannot assume that students have every tool (critical reading, annotation, etc) needed to be successful in their course. Nor can instructors assume students know how to learn those skills without support.
