San Antonio police have walked back on a previous statement that there was no evidence of a hate crime in the killing of actor Jonathan Joss, with the police chief now calling the statement “premature.”

Jonathan Joss, who acted in “King of the Hill” and “Parks and Recreation,” was shot in San Antonio by a man who yelled “homophobic slurs” at him, his husband said.
