I don't think it does.

Our species has endured so much trauma over many thousands of years and we persist, and find ways to improve our lives in spite of our hardships.

I think we're just living through one of the dark periods and there is light on the other side of it, however long that may take.

People have always been far too critical of Star Wars media every time it's released.

Star Wars is pulp fiction space fantasy. It doesn't have to be literary or cinematic genius.

I've enjoyed all of it, because it's Star Wars, being Star Wars.

Alongside the commercialization of information, we've experienced a collapse in community, and this collapse compounds our inability to validate information effectively, because we live inside isolated echo chambers and are rarely tested on the validity of the information we share.

I don't believe there is a way to solve the information problem without first rebuilding genuine community and fostering diversity of idea and information.

And I don't believe there is a way to do that in the modern world without redefining social media and shifting incentives.

We could functionally approximate what used to be, though, if we were actually intentional about it.

And it probably includes far fewer sheep than currently exist, of course, because agriculture and livestock has significantly disrupted the equilibrium in this distribution of masses.
