At COP30, California stepped up—but not nearly as much as Big Oil. With absent U.S. leadership and more fossil fuel lobbyists than ever before, it’s no surprise that action from these summits can get delayed.

Oakland became the 18th local government to support making polluters pay. Our movement continues to gain momentum all over California, including all four of the largest cities.

Californians know it better than most: Wildfire smoke is a toxic threat. Tens of thousands of lives are on the line. We need to protect frontline communities and make Big Oil pay for the immense cost of these fossil-fueled disasters.

Many veterans have found a place in clean energy. As we transition to solar & wind power, we need to invest in programs that give veterans opportunities. Those who served our country are the perfect candidates to help build prosperous, cheap energy infrastructure for our nation.

Together, we passed Prop 50 and sent a strong message: California refuses to be silenced by those who are putting politics over the health, safety, and well-being of millions. We protected fair elections and community power—essential components of the fight to protect our planet.
