I would like to dive deeper into the statistics surrounding whether people vote according to party or candidate gender.

Drawing back to gender in the workplace, I’m curious as to how long it would take for change to be enacted if the roles were reversed in Mundy’s article. If the men in the workplace were discriminated against by restrooms, leisure, etc., how quickly would everything become equal?

It’s disheartening to learn about the racism that still occurred during the fight for voting rights. While Black women fought tirelessly for all Black people and women of any race, White women were only focused on benefitting themselves, even at the cost of the rights of others.

I’ve never enjoyed the concept of “girl boss”. Although I slightly understand where it’s creation comes from, I’ve always found it more empowering to disregard the term.

I wonder if the gender discrimination among the female senators was commonplace as the men in those same offices were “from a different time”, or if these disparities were skillfully used as a way to slowly push women away from those seats?

I believe that the socialization hypothesis is alive and well, especially in those who grew up in the south.

I would like to dive more into mental health statistics and job retention rates for countries that have implemented the part-time work week, as I would assume that they would be more positively swayed than countries that do not have this option..

I’m interested in the fact that we are not fully sure of the roles women played in the early years of joining the workforce as the information was not documented in a very organized way.

The article on 24-hour shifts is deeply upsetting as these jobs are mostly held by women. The fact that they would only be paid for a little over half of the hours they worked is shocking.

I wonder what the statistics would say for the Covid-19 article if it focused solely on single working women, or women who do not have kids. Were their jobs more likely to be spared than working mothers during that time as they had less on their plate?

I’m slightly torn on whose side to pick for the article on the man compensating his ex-wife. While I completely understand the importance of childcare and housework, and know it does not come cheap, I don’t think that this stay at home mom really deserves to be paid.

I don’t think the desire of a husband is necessarily declining, it’s just taking women longer to find their life partner. Because women no longer need men for financial support, it leads them to relationships driven by love, not necessity.

I think the discussion surrounding the chore load in same-sex relationships is very interesting as it’s simpler than people would think. I feel like many men in straight relationships get teased for do “female” jobs and women get funny looks for doing “masculine” work.

The amount of men who leave their partners during illness is astounding to me. How many of them are driven by their own mental health problems from seeing someone they love in that state? And how many of them have just given up because having to do the tasks of two parents is too much work?

I love that Gerson took on a perspective that doesn’t get talked about often, especially through media. I feel like it would be comforting to many to know that most fathers would love to spend more time with their families, but the work schedules of male-dominated fields don’t allow it.

I found it interesting that the slides brought up that female bodybuilders are encouraged to not gain as much muscle mass as their male counterparts, even though they’re participating in the same event for the same goal.

The gender distinction between baseball and softball is one that I have though if before. Many men always make the argument that baseball is harder because the ball is smaller and the field is larger.

I agree with the proposition to eliminate the gender binary within sports. If men and women have trained diligently for the same event, it makes little sense for them to compete separately.

The discourse surrounding gendered bathrooms still baffles me. Non-assigned bathrooms were around long before assigned ones, and still exist, even if many don’t recognize them. Home bathrooms and port-a-potties aren’t gender specific, and all that matters in the moment is that they’re not occupied.

I’m not sure exactly how prevalent the MRS degree is in the Midwest, but I feel like it’s still functioning here in the South.

While I do love Legally Blonde, it does have its flaws when it comes to inclusion. It was definitely a step forward during its time, but it seems to have burnt out compared to the representations of female personalities that we see in media today.

I love that female drag queens are starting to become a bit more mainstream. Since drag is a form of expression, and not an explicitly gendered concept, it’s nice to start seeing people enjoy it. With extravagant makeup and hair, it can also be seen as a form of malicious compliance to femininity.

I completely agree with Tolentino’s take that female empowerment has become nothing but a cash grab for many companies.
March 2, 2025 at 2:54 PM
I enjoy the concept of hyper-femininity being related to empowerment more than setbacks. Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” showed this as she highlighted Barbie’s many careers and how the community based on the work of women thrived more than a society controlled by men (Kens).

Although infantilization is most commonly tied to women, I’ve never understood the male attraction towards it. When women are infantilized, it’s viewed as either weird or sexy, mostly the latter.
