Not sure - sounds like a job for some sort of head of municipal data collection and distribution?

@neilkornutick.bsky.social, have you ever heard of something like that?

Just wait until noon - most streets should melt off by then! Sun + higher temps will save us

Don't forget another very important reason: above ground power lines are ugly.

Beautiful places build pride of place. Utility poles and the clutter of power lines aren't beautiful.

When I’m finally appointed as Chief Depaving Officer, Davidson Street may well become my magnus opus.

That or this absolute catastrophe:
January 27, 2026 at 2:35 AM
Probably very few cases where that would work, but Davidson is likely one of them.

This is an interesting case. If you could pick one curb line to keep and you establish a new curb line on the same side of the existing roads’ crown, then you wouldn’t need to install new stormwater inlets and pipes. All the drainage would flow down the slope to the existing curb and inlets.

What color was it?

I feel like declared states of emergency should overrule your duty to perform work tasks even if you’re a WFHer

What are these “sidewalks”, of which you speak?
January 26, 2026 at 1:18 AM
Admittedly not my beat - hopefully someone in the replies knows better what is going on at Parks / Greenways
January 14, 2026 at 4:56 AM
Oh we’ve got *plans* to expand the greenway system.

We just don’t have any publicly funded and built greenways to show for all of our plans. At least not since I’ve been around. Not sure what the hold up is 🤷🏻‍♂️

Meeting is adjourned at 7:00 pm on the dot. An auspicious beginning to King Weingartner's reign.

VZAC Charlie wrote up an incredible annual report on the committee's Vision Zero experience in 2025. I got early access because I'm HIM. But hopefully it becomes public very shortly so you sickos can all read it too.

Motion to adopt the annual report as an official action of VZAC passes!
January 14, 2026 at 1:00 AM
VZAC Charlie says they technically have two open seats right now. The committee immediately motions to officially add Dylan Ringel to the official roster. Motion passes!

The youngest member in VZAC history is now properly seated! There is one open seat left to fill.

VZAC Robin says any analysis of Edmonson Pike should include greenway extensions to create a continuous route along Edmonson.

Unfortunately, we don't really build new greenway in Nashville anymore but here's hoping!

*slated not salted 🤦🏻

NDOT Val says she will share the Rosa Parks Bikeway plans with the committee since they have already submitted to TDOT for initial approvals. Psst... you can FOIA those as well.

VZAC Charlie says he wants to be NDOT's biggest cheerleader and wants NDOT to help them identify things they can support

The rest of the list includes:
Neighborhood Safety Audits
Harding Place Safety Improvements
Hwy 100 Road Diet Analysis
Kinetic Energy Risk Factor Assessment
Edmonson Pike Safety Analysis
Rosa Parks Bikeways
(Various) Speed Studies
Pedestrian Lighting

NDOT just received a multimodal grant from TDOT to add PHBs at several locations.

NDOT will be taking a "neighborhood approach" to the Traffic Calming Program - hoping to reduce the unintended impact on neighboring streets when TC projects go in.
January 14, 2026 at 12:51 AM
NDOT did not get as much funding for fatal crash response as they hoped, so for now they will focus on quick builds in lieu of long term improvements.

Main and Gallatin is salted for some quick build improvements ahead of the larger corridor rebuild to come in the next few years via CHYM.
