I'm pretty certain it is real and very rare. There are multiple photos and the birders are all excited about it. The White variant is found primarily in the lower Keys.

I grew up and live in SW Fl. I wear shorts 90% of the time. This is very common in my community including people of all ages. More resort wear than beach bum.

In late 1970s Florida, Alas Babylon was required reading in Freshman HS English. I was a college Freshman in 1983 and The Day After hit hard, but Testament hit harder for me. I try to tell the young ones today about how present that threat was back then. They just don't understand.
