I don't know how Barry Goldwater got into this, except I saw people comparing themselves favorably by mourning Charlie Kirk with vigils to those who protested George Floyd's death with riots, and it occurred to me that mourning a hate-monger is no virtue, and protesting unjust death is no vice.

It seems like all the kids who went to public school are saying, "Hey! You can't do that! It's unconstitutional!" and all the kids wo went to private school are saying, "Let's see you do it." This explains the dismantling of the Department of Education and the push for private school vouchers.

Trump was elected. He should be secure in his power. But Putin mocks him and the Chief Justice just slapped him upside the head. He could do what his voters want him to do just by working the system. Why the nonsense? Maybe there's something else going on.

The trouble with our government is that you can't beat it into people. They have to reason their way in. But it sure as hell looks like you can beat it out of them.
