he/him
this is 100% true, but someone has to sit him down and explain that 'guy who's there because he's josh's friend' is what the backup QB or QB coach is for is for. HC has actual responsibilities

i forgot we did this more than once

Civilians out here dying to protect their neighbors and the best you can do is “these agents are becoming dangerous”? abolish ICE is the bare minimum if you can’t even call for that just resign

You could convince me that any of the last four or five playoff losses were his fault for relying on a defensive structure that is great against qbs that can’t cross the street 20 times in a row but breaks against qbs that can, so of course they fire him the one season that wasn’t the case

Finished this one last night! I was daunted by the length but so, so glad I picked it up, one of the best books I've read in a few years

It bothers me to the point that I actively try not to use it because at least when I search for an answer to something on reddit I know someone will call me stupid if what I’m asking is stupid

He somehow looks even MORE like a guy named Biff Poggi than you’d think

“Guy who’d curse you out to defend Matt Patricia’s honor but also probably post Ryan Day’s home address if he lost to Michigan” isn’t necessarily someone I need on sports bsky but it’s also proof positive that this place has legs

Also this is such a classic “every accusation a confession”. Figures the folks that brought you “if you read the first letter of every sentence of Hillary’s tweet backwards it’s a code for how much she love pedophilia” would also run the press office where every release is 14 Words long
November 29, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Kinda messed up that after years of listening to my dad spout nonsense at me I sound the same to myself just recounting the news. “The president’s secret police is kidnapping citizens in broad daylight and sending them to overseas torture camps” okay man
November 29, 2025 at 6:46 PM
I know people cry game script but the only qbs of top teams who were even in his area code were Jalen Milroe who also had 160 carries and probably wasn’t allowed to pass and guys like [Iowa QB] who probably also wasn’t allowed to pass
October 31, 2025 at 8:21 PM
The fact that of the top 200 passers in the FBS by attempts he ranked 129th in attempts per game or a different thing
October 31, 2025 at 8:12 PM
some might even say the leap was spending the 10th pick in the draft on a QB who wasn't allowed to throw in college
October 31, 2025 at 6:27 PM
RBSDM have conversion chances there as ~31% chance and a 50-ish yard FG somewhere around 70% chance which would be around 0.65 EP going for it and ~39% chance just making it from 43 so 1.17 EP. So somewhere in that range probably makes more sense than 0.3 2/2
October 7, 2025 at 6:23 PM
That's a fair point, breaking it out like that 0.3 does seem low, I'd also be interested to see what other models have it as. That said I don't think it can be quite 1.5 EP because it's also a 4th&8 so a lot of the playbook that'd normally be there for those situations is out. 1/2
October 7, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Yeah it's the exact type of play that EPA is really good at contextualizing. I checked on rbsdm and that pick was something like -0.3 EPA which if we're using the EPA/play in the quoted post actually is a better than average play for Flacco
October 7, 2025 at 6:02 PM
Not disputing the other three but a pick on an end of half play on 4th down probably doesn't do much of anything to affect EPA because the EP is so low as it is. with an EPA/play that low it probably improves his EPA/db if anything

I followed comp climbing until 2018 or 2019, glad to see she’s still up to the same stuff all this time later
October 1, 2025 at 1:40 AM
They might still be getting up to speed but wins and losses now matter as much for seeding as the ones in december do.

Very possible this game decides home field between these two teams should they meet in the playoffs and would potentially put KC on the road in the WC round if they were to lose

between this and Mare of Easttown i deeply respect Brad Ingelsby's project to get all the world's finest actors to say "wooder ice"

It’s been some time since I read so I might have the details fuzzy but I took it as him being unwilling or unable to directly confront the things that he did until he felt forced to, and only then obliquely and a bit insincerely. But like you said I think it being up to interpretation is intended

It’s so hard to say, I love how Ishiguro can so effectively write a character like this that forces you to extricate the truth from the half truths from the fabrications. 1/2
September 6, 2025 at 4:27 AM
Tbh also if my team’s season log looked like this I just don’t know why I’d feel like I needed validation from talking heads. The team is undeniable, who cares if people think they were only 12 wins good instead of 15. Feels like something a team like, idk, the fins or broncos should be doing
September 4, 2025 at 2:01 AM
Every team has something like that they could point to though. By AGL the chiefs had better than average injury luck last year. it feels worse when you’re living and dying by every play, I get it, but outside a team like SF or DET’s defense it’s just the way of things. ftnfantasy.com/nfl/2024-agl...
2024 AGL: 49ers Get Smacked Down by Injuries
The 49ers were the most injured team in the league in 2024, while the Ravens were one of the least injured teams in years.

Nope you got me the chiefs were the only team all season to play two playoff teams in back to back weeks or deal with injuries
