Technically we already are. In most cases retirees have to remortgage paid off homes just to keep up with their rising Healthcare costs which coincidentally started rising as soon as they retired with a paid off home.

Sorry Marc, I disagree. They caved with democratic leadership knowing according to at least 1 Senator. And if a leader cant whip and only those SAFE voted to save face for others then The buck stop here LEADERSHIP is responsible. I trust much of your work but this comment doesn't seem connected.

See here's the thing. They didn't craft a deal. They accepted a pinky promise on Healthcare and literally agreed to things ALREADY implemented by Trump himself( backpay for furloughed workers, etc). They got NOTHING NEW.

Millions of people were coming together to aid those losing SNAP. How many are going to come together to stop the 51k per year deaths losing health care. Or Millions priced out altogether? None. You cant donate Healthcare. 1 you fight the other you have to fight for. Caving was a BAD CHOICE.
