Been a bumper year for blackberries in my garden and local area. Already made a load of spiced blackberry jam and on a gloomy day like today I think I need to make a apple and blackberry crumble.

So much shite in the world it’s overwhelming. I couldn’t focus on what I should have been doing today, so I made plum chutney from the plums I picked in my garden and took my dogs for a very long walk in the woods. Just needed to find signs that there’s still goodness, beauty and love out there.

Doing doing a bit of silversmithing practice this weekend (but with pewter). Firey torches and crucibles feel very medieval and I’m always looking to add to my list of post-apocalypse living skills.

I’m reading this fascinating book about The George and other historic inns of Southwark by @petebrownbeer.bsky.social and it is packed with so much interesting social history. Visited the George Inn again this week, and heartily recommend both the book and the pub.

Doing No Booze November and instead of being an arse it has been a revelation. I was up before 6am this morning to drive an hour to a disused quarry to do the first of my advanced diving dives and I’ve got back into so many interests that I enjoy. Could it be the way forward?
