The drawer with Chat Apps on which I need to support users is growing and growing. I wish we had a federated standard that'd allow them to interoperate, like XMPP.
It might not have been the best standard, but it was the one with the most traction, before everybody started building walled gardens 😢

Just had this thought yesterday, please tell my it's bad: tariffs on physical goods hinder free trade. What however happens if we put tariffs on services and IP? Could it counteract the usual game of charging IP costs from parent companies in tax havens (common technique to evade taxes locally).
