This is so true. In Poland, in 1939, one of the first things they did was come for the books.

We have constructed a lot of assemblies of authority in our culture. It's possible we've just Pavlov dog-ged ourselves into a situation where any figure in a position of 'power' seems to have the 'right' to order people to do things 'for the country'. The love of country can be a flaw (sadly).
