FUCK!

My mortgage payment increased $118 per month. Specifically, the escrow payment increased. Property taxes increased due to reduced federal funding for states and cities. Fuck you very much, Trump.

A Thought

While the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi, a murdered Nazi has the potential to be a martyr. That's not a good thing.

Resuming the Incremental Marathon

It's been a while since I've posted a run. The last time was on March 2nd. I had been doing quite a bit of running, with only short breaks lasting 4 or 5 days. But then, towards the end of July, my left knee acted up - again. It got so bad that I had to wear a…

Proof, Proof! I Tell You

That I'm spoiled, and it sucks to be you! All because Tina had it in her head that she wanted Thanksgiving Dinner early. Well, from her head to my stomach! I repeat: Proof I'm spoiled and it sucks to be you!

Why Now?

Why, after all these years, did John Cena finally turn heel? Before now, he didn't have the acting chops. Clearly, he's taken acting lessons, and they've paid off if you've watched him in movies. He could not have pulled off the heel turn even 10 years ago. So, I'm enjoying the story of…

He could not have pulled off the heel turn even 10 years ago. So, I'm enjoying the story of John Cena, heel. I'm intrigued by how they pull off the turn-back to baby face. It's even more fun watching the audience get into the act. My prediction, by the way, is that he turns on The Rock.

Stats Catch-up

The last post about my runs occurred on July 11th, 2024. So, this post is dedicated to getting the Strava Activities caught up, which, by the way, is below the fold.

My Daily (But Inconsistent) Substack Post

Because, you know, I'm the Inconsistent Blogger. Feb 25, 2025 So, some catch-up is in order. First, on January 30th of this year, I hit 40 years of sobriety. After all these years, it has become just another day. Still, it is something worth noting. Oh,…

Hope, too, is legitimate

It is not that we are doomed to the worst possible imagined outcome so much as that we are afraid it is possible, even if not probable. Yet, if we can imagine the worst, we can also imagine the best. So, note the fear, for it is legitimate. But we can also note hope; it,…

Misc Pictures

Above is a picture I took years ago with an earlier version of the iPhone. It was incidental—that is, I took it without much forethought. I looked, snapped a few, and moved on. Honestly, I don't know exactly where I took this on the St. Louis River. I suspect it is right after…

Happy Belated New Year

So, last night, the four-year-old furnace decided to crap out. Thankfully, the furnace wasn't the issue; it was the old fuse element. Somehow, the wiring at the base of the connection plate of the element came loose. Anyway, this occurred at 9:14 PM, in sub-freezing weather.…

Somehow, the wiring at the base of the connection plate of the element came loose. Anyway, this occurred at 9:14 PM, in sub-freezing weather. However, the local gas company has emergency repair technicians on duty. They arrived and got to work less than 10 minutes after making the call.

Thus Spoke GAH

But, really, not much to say. Thankfully, words are but air, and typed words are but electrons. Yeah, I've no idea what that means. In case, all is empty. So, how about you read this without thought because it was written without thought. Be empty.

So Much for That

Yesterday, I started a post on the evils of paperwork in my chosen profession. How worthless for describing the client's change mentally and emotionally, and its only goal is to repeatedly force us to prove we can do our job daily (it doesn't). But I shit-canned it. This morning,…

How worthless for describing the client's change mentally and emotionally, and its only goal is to repeatedly force us to prove we can do our job daily (it doesn't). But I shit-canned it. This morning, the post came back with a vengeance. Anyway, suffice it to say that the one thing I most hate about my profession is paperwork.
