An extratropical cyclone generated the largest waves of the winter at CDIP stations along the PNW, with waves reaching 63' at CDIP 179 Astoria Canyon, OR. This event stands out in the historic record, matching the strongest events of the 2015-16 El Niño in terms of Hs.

CDIP 156 Monterey Canyon Outer, CA was re-established 1/30 with funding by NOAA Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS). CDIP's wave buoy array in Monterey Bay, together with stations sponsored by US Army Corps of Engineers, CA State Parks, and the Naval Postgraduate School.
