Savage is a chimera, a person given a ton of parts of animals to make her into an all-terrain superpredator. She still has her human intelligence, though a side effect of the experiments has left her in a state of constant muscle pain. Sometimes she breaks into small town stores to steal painkillers. She escaped containment and fled her captors, off to live in the woods and survive while evading being recaptured.

Her race is called the "Shidai", and were once on the brink of extinction before her and her sister reverse-engineered ancient technology and used it to fight off their oppressors. The armor on her arms is grafted to her body. Venera is part of the subrace of Shidai known as the "Kukert-Shidai", they are the one with antlers instead of horns. Venera is much less willing to reach out to other alien species for alliances, and has a particular distrust of humans.

These are the ones that have horns on their head, as opposed to the antlers of the other subrace. She lost one of her arms in the battle for her home planet ages ago. Sables are martens that live in Northeast Asia, they look like ferrets but are larger, stockier, and have more catlike ears. When winter comes, Gavriila's hair and fur change color to help her blend in better. Her clothes are special and also undergo these changes with her.
