I think the current state of our industry is ruining me. Whenever I see new layoffs now, what was once just empathy is now also fear. More people now competing for the same few jobs. Will I still be enough? I hate it. I want to be able to uplift each other, not wonder if we all make it through this.

I swear since I moved north, I've been surrounded by such lovely and encouraging people here. I never quite experienced that before 🙇. It reveals a bit about my past "environments," which were more prone to competition and constant self-doubt.

Hell yeah, just reject me after that first interview if you're not convinced by my 10 years of work on my portfolio. Do not make me lose my time and money on some unpaid test that proves nothing cause it's too short to lead anywhere interesting.

Absolutely pissed. Blocked out the day to do a test after an interview for a potential long contract, only to receive an email just now to stop because they are already extending an offer to another candidate?

Recruiters, do not pull this shit. I planned carefully around this day and now it's lost.

My brain is such in a "absorbing" mode, from starting so many small projects, it's great because you need to be resourceful, quick, and come up with a lot of different interesting UI and UX systems.

But I also need to post an illustration I've worked for on and off for about a month. 🫠
