The new cintiqs are much lighter and thinner, if that helps. Screens are good, pen pressure has improved, but the actual pen is flimsy and a button has already fallen off. Hope this helps!

You can start making rough layouts in CG, and send it off to a 3D specialist to complete. That way, you can get your hands dirty without geting too bogged down.
