Oh it's not great or anything. It's kind of a mess, as maybe only Warner Bros could make... like they accidentally made a B movie with the A talent. It's the unexpected mashup of this cast that I like revisiting every so often. I'd watch any one of them in anything. Still some fun despite its flaws!

Yesss! You can't take your eyes off them! 🤩 ...Lol. Unfortunately the film is in rough shape, and the quality makes it hard to watch. Some people are really critical of it but I think plenty of scenes are quite good, there was a satisfying twist at the end, and it's got great supporting players.

Chester makes this character uniquely fascinating to try to read. There's some subtlety I feel like you have to watch closely-but that will be second nature to you! I'd love to hear what you think of the performance! TCM typically airs it in December for Christmas.

Hi John! It's a little grittier, a little less sentimental, definitely faster-paced...
My experience is that, unless they're major Ford/Wayne fans, most people seem to prefer the 1936 version and/or call it the better movie.

Remember when Eddie wondered whether Chester or Constance had the idea to add to this scene? Well, I think I know who our nuzzler might be.
Poses similar to these–but that clearly highlight Chester's unique profile–could easily be a photographer's idea. Shots where his profile is obscured however...

I used the Wayback Machine to check the old TCMdb site (which I also remember as superior) and was shocked to find its data came from AFI too! I'm happy the articles all seem available and more accessible. I like being able to search by person and that results include any available Watch Now films.

Omg all those beautiful close-ups, she'd looks like porcelain if she wasn't glowing with such warmth! Even her small part in A Matter of Life and Death, as an angel, she's so ethereally beautiful you're instantly convinced she's a creature of heaven.
