Carney has a reputation for being adept at finance in the role of governor of a central bank.

Canada faces an economic crisis not a financial crisis. Carney has zero experience and reputation in dealing with national economic issues (no one has experience with a situation like Canada is in)

Fine. No naval base. The point being is that there are good reasons there is no major port there and taxpayer $ isn't the solution.

But, yes, it's highly unlikely that the $434B of exports to the USA will be replaced within Carney's first term. And he know doubt knows this.

Still tbd whether those "outside investors" will foot the bill for all the facilities that need to be built. History suggest they won't. Not for 4 months of shipping each year.

A naval base must be taxpayer funded. What influence Indigenous peoples will have is unclear given it's national defence.

Unlikely.

Any presumption that Trump is actually running the administration is bound to lead to false conclusions. Trump emits edicts. Miller and the gang then decide if they should be acted upon. Trump is not in control of himself or the government.

Unclear what you mean by "he's done it before". Carney has spent his life in finance. Zero experience in politics. Zero experience in trade negotiations.

Yes, he's orders of magnitude better than Poilievre (a cockroach corpse is orders of ...). But don't oversell Carney's experience. 1/2
