It's like how you can deduce how much further away the moon is from the Sun because half moons are slightly offset from where you might expect. Once pointed out, it's almost obvious.
There's an incredible beauty to that sort of simple observation.

How they did it - by looking at how the timing of Io's occultations varied as the Earth moved further and closer away - is almost basic, and could have theoretically been done a century before them. But to make that leap, and manage to tease things like that from possible observations is incredible.

Fursuiter / mascot costume wearer has unknowingly become the character ( Robin Hood ) while out performing in fursuit. In the headless lounge afterwards, he takes off the head of the suit eager for a bit of rest from the character - which is a lot harder to achieve than they thought. Transformation, unknowing.
