Absolutely. The man is appalling and every effort should be made to help the Venezuelans overthrow the regime through legitimate means. Even so, it can simultaneously be true that the US kidnapping him is illegal under international law, as is them bombing or invading another country.

True but that doesn't make this kidnapping legal, it just gives us a squidge of wriggle room to not impose quite the same level of penalties on the US as we have on Russia

or staying silent and rightfully losing support from a large proportion of the world for a grotesque double standard. Whatever happens, this is not going to make the world a safer place nor help stabilise the global economy

My main worry is that this action further undermines international law. It also leaves the UK and the EU the Hobson's choice of condemning the US and leaving themselves open to sanctions etc from Trump
