He sneezed out the feeding tube. It'll be put back in tomorrow after the swallow test

GI exam scheduled for today

We watched Tron tonight. "Now you've got two renegade programs running across the system in a stolen simulation."

He's getting some outside time today. First time he's been outside since being admitted last month, I believe.

"The nurse was just here and she can't get the feeding tube unclogged. This is something that often happens with these. He's going to have to go back to the hospital to have it taken out and a new one put in 😟. I think today. I'll let you know when I hear more."

He still needs a family member present almost all the time to advocate for him and make sure he's getting his needs addressed promptly. We were hoping the facility would provide more focused care but that's not the case.

Day 5 of the skilled nursing facility. He was stuck in bed over the weekend because they needed to assess him. No assessments happen on the weekends. Sounds like he's starting to get some exercise in. He said he was left on the toilet yesterday and wasn't told where the nurse call button was.

"Nurse just came in and told us it looks like he could get discharged to [skilled nursing facility] today or tomorrow "
February 6, 2025 at 10:27 PM
"He can start eating pureed soups, mashed potatoes, Boost, stuff like that. So that's good!"

Director of case management stopped by. They're working to untangle the insurance mess.

The hospital ran out of the medicine that was being used for his breathing treatment, so now he has to ask for it explicitly. It's a crap shoot if he actually gets it after asking. They gave him melatonin to help him sleep in the morning instead of at night like they have been.

The reason the rehab facility was denied by insurance is because the hospital sent the paperwork to the wrong insurance office/billing. To be discussed with the case manager today.
February 3, 2025 at 5:04 PM
Discharge from the hospital is being held up by insurance, which won't be back in the office until Monday

Hanging out, watching the UA ASU basketball game
February 1, 2025 at 7:55 PM
There's at least one skilled nursing facility that looks promising.
February 1, 2025 at 2:42 AM
The Medicare advantage plan won't cover any rehab facilities. Best thing that'll be covered is a skilled nursing facility.
January 31, 2025 at 10:06 PM
Feeding tube times have been changed from 24 hours to 4 PM to 8 AM, or something similar. This is what they do when preparing for discharge.

CTA scan showed nothing bad. Hopefully he'll get moved to inpatient rehab as early as this week
January 30, 2025 at 3:46 AM
Found high blood pressure in the MRI last week. One of the potential causes of PRES. Can't rule out stroke yet.
January 29, 2025 at 12:39 AM
MRI from yesterday did not show a stroke

"They just took him to radiology for the barium swallow xray"
January 28, 2025 at 7:05 PM
Very good night. He's out of the ICU area as I mentioned. We watched some women's basketball and listened to a couple of songs before I headed home.
January 28, 2025 at 3:19 AM
New swallow test tomorrow using x ray video to check where liquids and some solids will be going.

There's a rash on his back, probably symptomatic of valley fever. He also estimates that he's lost 40 pounds (!) over the last 6 months(!!)
