Respondents mostly relied on barrier or traditional methods (i.e. male condoms, withdrawal), rather than hormonal or emergency options (i.e. pills, injection).

Men also reported a greater increase in both sexual activity and contraceptive use compared to women during the pandemic, raising an important question: who are these men having sex with? This gendered discrepancy highlights the persistence of traditional sexual norms in Turkey.

39.7% of couples reported arguing more during the pandemic, while 33.9% experienced a decrease in their level of tolerance. At the same time, 28.5% indicated an improvement in their emotional bond.
