Today, January 1, is Independence Day for Haiti. They fought a long, brutal, and bloody war to win their freedom from France and become just the second republic of the New World, the first ever started by former slaves.

It was unlike Cletus to end anti-vermin training for a snowstorm. But his secretary was stuck in a stalled car after sliding off the road. Cletus came right away. Lauren knew the other terriers would make fun of him for *saving* vermin.

But she also knew he didn't care.

Happy Halloween! A favorite artists, @tacorat.com, wanted to draw gore this month, so I helped. The cutting off of wounded limbs is a well-documented part of 19th century warfare, and one needs a very strong surgeon to cut through horse bones. This rhino has likely been working since dawn. #gore

More @campolargo.bsky.social inspiration. The image of Hartley kneeling in prayer on his last night before relocating is just so beautiful to me. It's rare to see furries in prayer, especially like this, personal, alone, intended only for the self but asking for the strength to help others.

I got something for a long-time friend who has been a wonderful creative collaborator. He's helped grow the Skaraks, my long-nosed aliens, giving them history, culture, traditions...and enemies. @tacorat.com drew this bloody fight against a Wracon and, as with many battles, no one wins. #gore

One is a creature with rubbery yellow skin, an elephant-like nose, long aardvark-shaped ears, and a thick lizard-like tail, who has fallen to his knees clutching his entrails pouring from his gut in a mess of blackish blood.
