Definitely understand extent matters more in terms of planet heating, but the point on volume's ability to predict future extent is more what I find important. Like we haven't beat 2012 in terms of record low extent, but volume shows clearly that we are much worse off now than we were in 2012 IMO.

Do you ever look at/put stock into Arctic Sea Ice Volume vs Extent? To me, comparing the ice thickness from say 2012 when we had record low extent to the more recent years shows a lot more cause for alarm.
