The truth is, though, that I don’t typically seem hyper; I often seem lazy, quiet, grumpy, and/or depressed when I may be none of those things. In reality, I’m experiencing cognitive hyperactivity, which can cause something like a state of shock.

If there is an official separation, now, between ADD and ADHD, I reckon it’s because of the negative characterization of hyperactivity as an outward, energetic behavior. Many of us with ADHD do not seem “hyper”.
