I think LLMs are better than the deeply ad corrupted current version of search. LLMs error rates are lower than the rate of bad search results you get from paid placement. But if we are going to corrupt LLM results with ad placement then wtf is even the point of all this

Maybe. Maybe they realized that LLMs will not get them AGI (some of us have known this for a while) and disrupting search is the only way to recoup the cap they have spent. To be fair, disrupting search is a decent use for LLMs. Not worth the cap spend but hey, that's all sunk cost at this point
