I'm 100% convinced that Badenoch's Abolish Stamp Duty policy is consistent with her much trumpeted 'work out all the details before an announcement' approach
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
She's rubbish with an autocue
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
Why is she doing a list as if she'd achieved the things she's mentioning?

Can you cut the civil service back to where it was in 2016? Isn't part of its growth due to activities that used to be carried out in Brussels now being carried out in SW1? Didn't we know this going in to Brexit?
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
Badenoch handbrake turns from how broken the country is to how brilliant the Conservatives were in office, as if the two things were completely unconnected.

The only 2 things I know about Newport, apart from it being home to the ONS, is that GLC are from there and it's regularly judged to be the most violent town in Britain. Not sure either of those would sway recent graduates.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
How much, if any, of the ONS' problems are down to issues around getting people with the right skills and experience to work in Newport?

If James Cleverly was serious about a run for London mayor he'd quit the shadow cabinet and publicly attack Jenrick's comments. But he won't because there's another big job he'd prefer to do more

Not only does this bug I've got make me sound like Barry White it also produces some of the most psychedelic dreams I've had for some time (unless that actually was a deceased former business partner asking me to help fix his printer issues last night)

Really got into dates a while back as they're delicious and supposed to be good for blood sugar. I've buy cheap bags of them from Aldi. And I'm sure it's just a coincidence but every year as we approach Xmas they suddenly disappear from the store, get replaced with something more e̶x̶p̶e̶n̶s̶i̶v̶e̶ seasonal.

Dubai is to the contemporary Right what Essex was to the Thatcher era Conservatives? Brash, white flight, aspirational types in both?
beijingpalmer.bsky.social
it's weird to me how much Gulf states seem to dominate the imagination of the UK right at the moment. I assume it's largely about who's giving them money, but I also think "Dubai expat" is a common social type in their circles.

I was on a panel at Conservative conference today where the UAE model was seriously proposed as a direction to take Britain’s immigration system.

Jenrick's TFL video is carrying more Tory cope than it can feasibly bear. James Heale keeps telling me it's been viewed 15m times. Sure it's a posh bloke trying to arrest people on the tube. They're watching because they think he's going to be thumped not because they're about to vote for him.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
People mutter darkly about party donors but after the Philp and Jenrick speeches today it seems glaringly obvious that the Conservative party is actually in hock to the nation's sketch writers.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think Tory MPs let Jenrick go through to the final two now.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
So Jenrick is against Reform's policy of politically appointed judges, he thinks instead he should just be able to sack those he doesn't like?
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
Even when in power 4 days seemed too long for a Tory party conference, now it seems absurd. They should kick it off on a Friday afternoon and wrap it up Sunday lunchtime.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
getting a 96 year old woman to foot your ladder is just asking for trouble
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
You wouldn't think Con Home would make that mistake but it looks nothing like him.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
After a series of "incidents" all the cat food has been moved to different cupboards and we have to prep their meals with them locked out of the kitchen so they can't see where it is and my partner has even taken to only whispering the new location to me while checking over her shoulder.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
That's not even a photo of Mel Stride is it?
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
and if it does happen in the next year or so there's no guarantee, indeed I think it's unlikely, that the electorate would look towards the current Tory party to repair the damage.

Britian Loses sounds like one of those young American female singers everyone apart from me has heard of and is listening to on Spotify the whole time and is the reason why they refer to things as "chub" or "upward tilt" when they write space filler articles in the Sunday papers.
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
As there's really only one angle to the Tory party coverage being generated someone needs to headline their piece with

Has Kemi Badenoch Done To The Conservative Party What Liz Truss Did To The Queen?
chairmanmoet.bsky.social
Reform spent their conference getting drunk, loyal Tories have to endure this. No wonder people defect.
