I think the era of building apps for others is fading. We're in a 'pro-sumer' era where users build tools on demand, purely for personal use. #AI #OS #tech #UX

Do you feel resigned to the fact that all your data is out there so what's the point in fighting for online privacy, or do you feel that there should be more efforts put towards protecting it, especially as we are heading into the age of AI?

Oh! A floating point 16 is only a digital *approximation* of the actual number. I think I understood this at a certain level, but hearing this again from someone else made me realise it's implications -- AI chips of the future need to be analog!

"What gets measured gets managed." -- I didn't realise this was criticism highlighting quantification bias, and I have to admit that I've been guilty of taking it literally in the past.

They see a lot of standardisation in software and web interfaces. Non-engineers can produce anything with AI-assisted coding tools, possibly leading to a Cambrian explosion. #AI #UX

"Vibe Coding" is not a suitable term to describe AI enabled development using IDEs like Cursor or Windsurf. There's a lot more thought and control expressed over the code made this way.

The way Paragraph implements AI functionality in their app is quite nice! It clearly tells you it is using AI and uses it for a non-core task. #AI #AIDoneWell

The second phase of AI development efforts is about achieving human-level intelligence efficiently. This opens up new opportunities for AI to be run on small, mobile packages that don't require an internet connection to function. #AI #EdgeComputing

GPUs are becoming more powerful and efficient. AI models are becoming cheaper to create and require less compute to run. Yet, AI companies are building more data centers? #AI #Tech

AI demands a lot of power. Ironically, countries with monarchies or authoritarian regimes can quickly build the required infrastructure while democracies are left behind, even though the technology can most benefit their people. #AI #geopolitics #tech

Those who argue against open source AI are just plain evil. The safety arguments they shroud their ulterior motives under is not fooling anyone. #ai #ethics

I've seen a lot of people, especially from the US, framing the current AI competition with China as a 'war' or 'an arms race'. Healthy competition is useful as it gives rise to better outcomes for everyone. #AI #geopolitics

The whole point of civilisation is to bring about predictability in our daily lives. We organise ourselves by agreeing to a certain set of rules through culture, laws or code, so that the same set of actions lead to the same results for everyone. #civilisation #society
