An interesting cultural difference, in WW2 US and UK pilots would put enemy flag decals on their planes as victory markings. The Soviets thought it'd be weird to put a bunch of little swastikas on so they put red star decals for every kill instead.

An underappreciated change in Star Wars is that in Legends Corellia is space fantasy America, ran by benevolent corporations with the ship-manufacturing industry being an integral part of Corellian freedom-loving culture, and then in Canon they realized in reality that'd literally just be Detroit.
