Excited to be with you here and to start my feed with news about my next adventure in writing and reading. I’m now officially a doctoral student in French Literature at CY Cergy Paris University, where I‘ll be working on a research-creation project around the novels-in-verse of Hélène Bessette. 🖤

Sometimes all I remember, or feel I truly know, is that before any other intimate sensuality I was allowed with others, I was allowed their (and thus mine too) texuality.

“[…] I reognize

One in you through the one in me,

We, who stay in fleeing –

Or who flee in staying.

And from your summary abode, I will tell you,

Out loud, I love you.”

A poem I wrote at Hélène Bessette’s grave. I’ve published it via Substack, but here is the audio I made, something I like to do to work the poem out of the body in another way. (Of course, working it out of my body in my French is a very "another" exercise.)

I wanted to say thank you to @chapp010.bsky.social for inviting me to speak to your creative writing students at Oxbridge again this summer. I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with these minds of the future. I only hope that I inspire them half as much as they inspire me. 🙏

Though I don't always practice it and think it has some real things to sort out, I think creative and euphoric translation practices are deeply interesting because they free the translator from this creepy benefactor vibe everyone's trying to dress up in.
