#OTD in #history in 1944 Operation Overlord took place on the coast of Normandy.

In 2015 we sold this ‘Bigot’ intelligence brief for the landing craft operatives.

It was a WW2 security classification above Top Secret!

One of the great things about holding our timed sales is that there is something for all budgets such as this sailor-made 19th century ship in a bottle - at 29cm it's almost the size of a ruler #maritime #maritimehistory #auction #antiques

Taking a few days off to enjoy the delights of #Norway including a great visit to the Trondheim Maritime Museum - it's small but perfectly formed.. saw a lovely model of the SS Prins Olaf (ex- RY Alexandra) of whose bell we sold back in July 2020 #maritime #museum #holiday

Marking #VEDay with this model of H.M. M.T.B. 621. She took part in Operation ‘Tarbrush’, an abortive attempt to survey the beach defences at Westkapelle as part of the Allies’ liberation of Antwerp. Her Captain commissioned this model as a keepsake of his war service #WW2 #VEDay80 #keepsakes
