Maybe we needs to take a leaf out of Thai culture where giving gifts of alcohol can be viewed as insulting. It can take more thought/effort to find other gifts, but do we (I include myself) really want to give a gift to someone that increases risk for cancer, heart disease etc.?

If all this gifted alcohol is consumed by Ministers themselves, unless they share widely, how often do they work under influence of alcohol? Do they have any worries about increased risk for liver cirrhosis, cancer & heart disease? At least they have drivers! www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2025...
International relations go better with liquor, as Lamola’s haul of gifts shows
Alcohol, obscure artworks and other tat appear to be favoured as gifts given by foreign embassies to South Africa's minister of international relations.

Peer reviewed paper shows corporate influence on alcohol policy in South Africa & how this is likely to be primary reason why 2016 Liquor Amendment Bill has gone no-where over past 9 years. Time for limiting alcohol industry influence on alcohol policy? 🤔 pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
