RIP David Thomas. Pere Ubu, Showbox, Seattle 1985-ish.
This album was my gateway into punk, and what rock and roll could truly be, when I heard it for the first time in high school circa 1980. Fortunately I got to see them play in 2005. RIP the great David Johansen. (crazy side note: we saw producer Todd Rundgren at the beach on Kauai last Saturday).

This album was my gateway into punk, and what rock and roll could truly be, when I heard it for the first time in high school circa 1980. Fortunately I got to see them play in 2005. RIP the great David Johansen. (crazy side note: we saw producer Todd Rundgren at the beach on Kauai last Saturday).

As paradigm shifting as that Kendrick Lamar performance was, imagine if Public Enemy had played the halftime show in 1990? A field full of S1W's would have blown so many (white) minds in Reagan/Bush's America it's unimaginable. Talk about fear of a black planet... @chuckdpe.bsky.social

The Tacoma Art Museum show of "Charles Peterson's Nirvana' is still running until May 25th, and not to be missed if you are in the area. We even built in a facsimile of the darkroom I used to use when I was photographing Nirvana.
