I have a feeling that we are too late. The accumulated wealth can withstand protests, boycotting, and worse.
Why did we let it go so far? All of the gains made during the 1st half of the 20th century have been given back to the return of the robber barons.
But we still must try to rebalance society.

Question...Could western academia talk to the common person better?

Follow up Question...is the ivory tower concept a myth or reality and either way (ha) can it be opened to the laypeople? (Better than it currently is???)
