I got really lucky and thrifted a sable brush last year. Never used one before, and will never replace it. Synthetic brushes are sooo good nowadays, I worried I was missing out but they're genuinely as good if not better than animal fibers, you just gotta find the nice ones!!

I learned the trick of scribbling on the side of your rubber shoe sole (in case you have one) sometimes the friction of the rubber can get the ball to move. It's a bit of a lose-lose though because you either have a pen that doesn't work or scribbles on your shoe...
