The Flyers announced yesterday in their trade announcement that Guryev would report to Lehigh Valley.

Hi Charlie, do you know if Guryev got sent to Lehigh or if he went straight to Reading? He's not listed on either team's website (think Lehigh hasn't updated since last season though) and I can't find any mention of where he landed

Tocchet says regarding Grebenkin potentially falling out of the Game 1 lineup after spending most of camp on the top 2 lines, that it's less about him doing things wrong & more about a numbers game.

"It's nothing that he's done bad. It's more trying to put a puzzle together."
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Grebenkin really isn't getting much in the way of reps today in practice. We'll see if he skates with a line at practice in Florida on Wednesday (no practice tomorrow) but at least today, he's getting the treatment of a guy likely to be a healthy scratch for Game 1.

Lines today:

Dvorak - Couturier - Michkov
Tippett - Zegras - Konecny
Foerster - Cates - Brink
Deslauriers - Abols - Hathaway

Grebenkin and Luchanko, interestingly, have yet to be on a line.

So basically, all of Abols, Grebenkin, Luchanko, Ginning and Juulsen have made the Flyers roster.

Cam York's status for Game 1 is in question, & if they have to put him on IR to start the year, Gilbert will also make the starting roster.

Carl Grundström will be sent to the AHL.

Embarrassing shit. The officials didn't help but the Eagles are way better than the Broncos, it's a failure to let it be so close that the officiating matters.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
My understanding is Carl Grundström will be placed on waivers today when they're announced in about 10 minutes.

A final decision hasn't yet been made on whether he'll make the NHL roster or be sent down to the AHL. But he'll be waived to give them the option to do the latter.

Flyers win the shootout.

Thankfully, fake hockey is finally over. The next time the Flyers play a hockey game, it will be a meaningful one -- next Thursday, in Florida.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Hahaha of course the final Flyers preseason game goes into overtime.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Vladar messes up playing the puck, and the Devils score to take the lead. I think Sam Ersson was always getting the Game 1 start, but that mistake I imagine will quiet the fan chatter that Vladar actually should be the guy in net for it.

Dennis Gilbert was placed on waivers today. That seemingly is the prelude to him getting cut from the roster Sunday, which would leave the Flyers with 23 players left in camp.

If the Flyers want, that can be their final roster. Ginning, Juulsen, Grebenkin, Abols and Jett Luchanko would make it.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
OK, there's the Jett Luchanko we need to see if he wants to make the roster. Nice pass to Sanheim on that goal.

Also, Grebenkin always just seems to be setting a screen in front at the right time, no? 1-1 now.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Luchanko isn't exactly having a "I need to be on the big club" performance thus far in the first. He's had quite a few d-zone turnovers.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Have fun! We're going to a wedding at 5 PM so can't make it.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
I'm not covering today's Flyers game in person (I'll be watching on TV). But it's obviously noteworthy that Luchanko, Abols and Juulsen are in the lineup after sitting out Thursday but Dennis Gilbert is not. Might he be the odd man out of the bubble guys? One more cut is needed.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
god, I haven't listened to that in YEARS

With only one Flyers preseason game to go, it sure seems like Nikita Grebenkin and Adam Ginning have locked up roster spots.

Egor Zamula will be on the final roster, too. But his struggles garnered a telling response from Rick Tocchet on Thursday night:

Five observations: Grebenkin and Ginning still on track to make Flyers, Zamula's struggles continue - PHLY Sports
Nikita Grebenkin and Adam Ginning still look on track to make the Flyers' final roster. Egor Zamula will be on the team, too, but his struggles continued on Thursday.

Tocchet on Zamula: "Yeah, he's got to pick it up. Definitely."
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Flyers lose 4-3 in regulation. Only one more preseason game remains before the real hockey starts.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Isles take a 4-3 lead with 2:54 left in the third.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
York to Foerster to a wide-open Cates, and the Flyers cash in on the PP after allowing a SHG. 3-3 now.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
If you give up 2-on-0s during a power play, you're gonna have a bad time.

3-2 NYI.
charlieoconn.bsky.social
Lead lasted 15 seconds. Anders Lee wrists one past Ersson and it's 2-2.
