Unfortunately, it's common! If ever the dates don't match, read the files until you find the next cover. That will usually tell you enough to figure out which set of papers you're actually looking at.

I've actually never seen that happen! What I have seen, often, with the ancestry files is that they only index some of the entries of that name, so it will like three files have been mixed together. In reality, it's an indexing error.

My best advice to people with #translation has always been "learn the boilerplate!" If you know the most common phrases, you'll be able to do a lot of the basic records yourself - and you'll know when you need a translator. #genealogy

I do wish they had given an option to flip the tree the other direction, as they do with their family trees.

And in case anyone wonders, it is officially a town cemetery, but the town budget only covers grounds care (which wasn't part of the budget in 2015 but has since been readded). Keeping the headstones stable is an added expense.
