Just to be clear. This guy (yellow) is NOT offside because he wasn’t involved in the scoring/play, correct? Would he have needed to touch the ball to be offside?

So is/was this off sides by Atletico Madrid at #LFC?
September 19, 2025 at 5:27 PM
Ok, that explains his positioning here.
September 19, 2025 at 5:08 PM
This is fun. I never knew that. Now I can watch Salah better, knowing what he wants to do. It also sheds light on some of those screenshots I posted yesterday. Why the defender sort of “cheated” to his own right and risking losing Frimpong who threatened his left.

Here’s Atletico Madrid’s first goal at the end of the first half at Anfield.

Screenshot 06

R - Isn’t this exactly the same setup that #LFC had to set up their first goal two minutes earlier?
Y - Is Frimpong offsides? I always have a tough time figuring that out.
G - There goes Mo.

What else do you see here with your more experienced eyes, everybody?
September 18, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Screenshot 05
Y - Interesting. He’s not watching Mo. Eyes on Gakpo.
G - Defender pulled in, leaves Frimpong
R - Szab signal he’s open?
White - What’s the strategic significance of Wirtz’ placement right here?
September 18, 2025 at 9:37 PM
Screenshot 04

Y - Looks like Frimpong is pulling defender to leave Salah 1on1.
G - Looks to me defender is compromised w/Grav staying put.
R - Is this a kind of zone defense or man to man? Or is that a thing in European football?
September 18, 2025 at 9:27 PM
Screenshot 03

Y - What is Wirtz positioning himself for here? Looks like several options.
R - Is Gakpo prepped for rebound? That cut-through pass Rio scored on?
G - Looks to me Frimpong could have open lane if Mo gets him ball. But looks like AMad left lane open for Grav.

What do each anticipate?

Yellow - Quite the open space between Grav/Wirtz. Grav not moving.
Red - Frimpong very deliberate with this move. Didn’t cut across but behind? Why?
Green - I’m only counting 9 #LFC players. Where’s Van Dyke?
September 18, 2025 at 9:02 PM
Ok, Greg. I’m going to play with some screen shots, make some observations and perhaps you and/or others can help me see what more experienced football eyes see here.

First, this one.
Y - Szob watch in case intercept?
R - What’s positioning strategy here?
G - Is he racing to block pass to Grav?
September 18, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Slow motion helps me see things a little easier so I’m posting this slow-mo clip of Mo #Salah scoring #LFC 2nd goal last night.

What should I see? What do more experienced football eyes see?
September 18, 2025 at 7:06 PM
Ok, #LFC friends, this newbie is trying to learn how this game is played. Care to help?

I’m spotlighting #FlorianWirtz' movement leading up to early goal. What’s the strategy here? What’s your analysis?

Have at it.

Saved best for last! What an exciting 68-yard bomb from #Huskers True FR to True FR — T.J. Lateef to Cortez Mills, Jr. to cap the scoring in this 59-7 romp over Houston Christian University.
September 15, 2025 at 1:56 AM
#Huskers SOPH RB Kwinten Ives with the 2H TD to carry on the rout. That looked pretty easy. Those fresh young OLmen were having fun.
September 15, 2025 at 1:36 AM
And…. There goes the #Huskers shutout.
September 15, 2025 at 1:30 AM
#Huskers #Blackshirts with the defensive TD. SOPH DT Riley Van Poppel with the forced fumble and RFr DE Williams Nwaneri with the scoop-and-score.

That’s a YOUNG #Husker defensive line.
September 15, 2025 at 12:42 AM
#Huskers Emmett Johnson puts another score on the board on the 2 yd TD run to put #Nebraska up 24-0 over HCU.

How about this? Here’s the #Huskers COMPLETE DRIVE for its 2nd TD against HC. Took only 2:26 in real time! How ‘bout that #DanaHolgersen offense!

Here is the complete game replay of yesterday’s Houston Christian University at Nebraska football game.

Synced, as always, to the great #Huskers radio broadcast with Kyle Crooks, Damon Benning and Jessica Coody.

Enjoy!

This was on second down, BTW. Honestly it was worse on 3rd and 4th downs. Just fundamentals. Low man wins. Akron all across the line were lower and made the stop.
September 9, 2025 at 7:01 PM
#Huskers stopped at goal line breakdown.

I remember an ex-Husker OL telling me the first step is the most important. Wish he were here to take a look at these first steps and give a more informed, intelligent breakdown.

Appears to me Akron NG got leverage. That’s where the play blew up.

Here’s what I mean by simple, little things easily overlooked. This is just a basic zone read (I think) run. But slow it down to see how it unfolds. Numbers (6 each) favor #Nebraska. Lindenmeyer crashes down to take out LB. ZR freezes OLB. Raiola can keep, Nelson goes straight thru hole. Good gain.
September 9, 2025 at 2:33 PM
#Huskers SOPH QB Dylan Raiola really threads the needle here, doesn’t he? The Florida speedster Jacory Barney with the reception.

BTW, looks like Dylan had his choice of open receivers to throw to. Thing of beauty.
