UPDATE: Additionally, keep in mind that there are three different types of assists. Your partner will do different moves when you call assists while your character is standing, while in-air and while you’re attacking. LOVE beat em ups with layered mechanics!

Offensively I use assists to put the pressure on regular enemies and bosses and to extend combos. For example, I’ll start a combo with Wolverine, launch an enemy to the sky then immediately tag in Storm to use her special and then tag Logan back in. Assists allow a LOT of combo expression in this.

I’m gonna push back on that one because Slayers despite being very goofy is still well written and paced great. Rune Soldier was just kinda dumb. Felt very Adult Swim-core lol

I’ve actually seen all of Rune Soldier (or Rune Soldier Louie). A lot of slapstick, sexual innuendo and a very goofy dub. I loved it when I was 17 but I haven’t watched it since. It’s probably aged horribly though 😂
