Agree. Perhaps it’s worth now revisiting Wilhelm Reich! (The Reich before his “orgon-turn”, clearly — Mass psychology of fascim, published first in 1933, for instance). It’s already a fascinating critique of the (alleged) economism of class consciousness (and lack thereof)

Maybe it is enjoyable, but maybe we are just a „brain in a tank“ that thinks it is enjoyable
