I hope gravity turns it into an oblate spheroid, to both better match the earth and provide endless amusement to pendants.

It must have felt almost normal there for a while

Really hoping the JPL store puts out a coffee mug to commemorate the event.

They had one for the 45th anniversary of Voyager, which was quite nice.

It occurred to me the other day that the joke in Arrested Development, where Tobias talks about marriage trouble, saying

"I don't want to blame it all on 9/11, but it certainly didn't help"

became more relevant and more darkly funny as time as passed.

No solid advice here tho I do see (on apple.fandom.com, fwiw) that there is a subsequent release called 7.5.3 revision 2, which had some bugfixes.

Is it practical to have two hdds for situations like this, cloning the active to a backup before doing an update? Not sure how rare the hdds are…

I say that because the bartender here is practiced in the art

It’s right in the middle of tng in the sense that the characters are fully formed and the moral universe is intact.

The story closes in-universe threads that seemed too far apart to repair. And it does so in a way that draws to the core of what tng was all about - equality.

Well, my crummy estimate from Our World In Data gives ~4.5/week in the year 2025, so I'll take that as the number for now.

Pretty impressive rate of discovery, especially if you measure it in hectares :)

Should have said 'average' instead of 'current', but still, genuinely curious as to how many are being added to the catalogue

What's the current weekly rate of new exoplanet discoveries?
January 10, 2026 at 3:35 AM
At some level it feels like a dereliction of public duty to not pay attention to the latest awful news. The balance between the awful stuff & regular news (planets! books! advances in road paving! etc) isn't obvious, even though the regular news is more important in the long term.

PM Stephen Harper did something similar to Canada in 2013.

The release of photos showing irreplaceable publicly funded records, sitting in a heap in shipping containers and waiting to be discarded, was a significant event in turning public opinion against Harper.

It has unintentionally become a tradition of mine to listen to the Xmas special while wrapping gifts, and this year was the same - thanks!

You should release a soundtrack of the Xmas songs at some point…

Is the clipping in the top right/top left corners computed by the rover before upload, to reduce the amount of data that gets transferred?

I can imagine that working if the rover knew where it was / where it was pointing & had a DEM.
