These rules weren’t just for making gay characters, but i did use a gay character as an example. There were a lot of things that weren’t allowed to be on film and tv back then & even right now! If it was really important to to have a type of character & you weren’t allowed a you had to imply it.

My film teacher argued that Peter Lorre’s character was coded to be gay in The Maltese Falcon. A student said “but you can make the argument that he was just eccentric” and my teacher said “thats the point, you needed plausible deniability so you didn’t get in trouble with censors”

Back in the days of “Christian standards and practices” censorship, people couldn’t just outright make a character gay. So if you cant say it and you really want a gay character then you have to imply it through the way the character acts and how people respond to them.

Youre welcome! Your art is so cute. I had a moment, looking at it,where I couldn’t articulate the feelings it gave me except for the sweetness coming from it. Your art made me emotional. I love old animals. They are so precious to me. I feel the love here. I love this art!

I love this! You really understand how it feels when a beloved pet gets old. This is so sweet and heartfelt, that it also makes me want to cry. Lovely work!
