one thing i want to do is play around with the layouts of the comic's pages. i dont want to overdo it, so page and panel decorations and flair will appear every few pages. dont want to clutter everything up too much.
concept of a comic page, depicting a montage of the bearded dwarf woman growing up, learning the woodworking trade (using a wood planer, as taught by her father as a young child. as an older child she chops wood. as a young adult, she throws an axe at a target and hits a bullseye. as an adult, she wields her axe and readies herself to fight a monster. finally, her determined face is at the bottom, to show clearer details of her appearance. a pin-up concept shot of the bearded dwarf woman, raising her axe overhead in triumph. she wears armor. the page is bordered with rough sketches of bears. a caption says, "brynn silverwald, a daughter of nordmansch". i added notes for this layout that direct where medieval germanic knotwork should be drawn, and labeling the bears as "germanic bears".

some character and design concepts too. the story starts off in the ironcrag mountains, so i practiced a bit with medieval germanic knotwork too.

so anyway, im working on a fan comic based in kobold press' midgard campaign setting. here are a few page and character concepts.
rough sketch of two dwarf women sparring in the mountains at nighttime. sketch of a comic page. a spy is tracking down the heroes, who are in a tavern. he thinks about the party he is spying on. "deadly warriors. conniving mage. a mad scientist! i must be ready for anything." he opens the door and there's a loud ruckus coming from inside. within the tavern is a scene of chaos: a thief stole a guy's pants, a tiefling mage is sobbing alone with a drink, a disabled kobold laughs maniacally while setting something on fire, and a bearded dwarf woman pounces on a guy, ready to punch him, and hollers "i'll show you hard-headed!" the spy is dismayed at the chaos and listens to more yelling. the victim of pants-theft yells "i'm naked!", the tiefling wails "daddy doesn't love me!", some hollers "augh!", and another patron yells "fire! somebody help!" a half-elf rogue and a ghoul ranger are in the bowels of a dungeon. they encountered a trap hallway that has a dart trap, spike trap, swinging guillotine trap, and a fire trap. the rogue is excited about this, she rubs her hands together and giggles "hee hee hee!" the ghoul ranger throws his hands up in frustration, and gripes, "a trap corridor?! why can't this be a [simple] rope snare?" he does not notice the rogue has zipped away toward the traps. he turns to talk to her and discovers she is gone. he yells after her, "tris, no!" sketch of a comic page concept, continuing the trap hallway scene. the half-elf rogue sticks her tongue out and also snubs her nose at the ghoul ranger as she bypasses all of the traps. when she reaches the end of the hallway, a hidden hammer trap bonks her on her head and she yells "oww!" the ranger is non-plussed about her shenanigans. she eventually yells "okay, i turned it off!"
