I found RenPy faster to figure out the basics than RPGMaker, but found it pretty easy to bash more elaborate things together out of assets and scripts in RPGMaker, if that helps. I'd pick whichever one suits the genre of game you're thinking of, personally, but it's up to ye...!

RenPy is for visual novels (e.g. Doki Doki Literature Club), RPGMaker for rpgs (e.g. Lisa the painful, Look Outside.) You can get a functioning (but boring) game very fast with them, but they're pretty limiting.

I've made passable mini projects in RenPy and RPGMaker, I've tried and not stuck with GameMaker, and I worked in the creative team on a Unity project. If you care a lot about mechanics and having control over them, I reccommend GameMaker. If you're looking for the pure simplest, RenPy or RPGMaker.

After 6 years I think I'd just draw my own comic, but it must be nice to be so consistent.

It stuck with me, I didn't say anything at the time, but as someone who is nonwhite in a white majority country, I sometimes have to bite back thoughts about not having the right to do x or y, but at my core I believe race has nothing to do with belonging... sorry to be a little weird!!,

I might be remembering wrong, but did you post a little while ago that you were thinking of making vlogs/a blog, but you didn't want to be another white japan blogger? I think you would have a really interesting perspective and people could benefit from hearing it, I hope you consider it!!

my attitude has always been, "If I give you money and you use it to buy drinks/drugs, it was yours to decide what to do with anyway, I'd rather you have money than none at all"... gift cards is a good idea, and probably a lot more useful than just some change...!!
